The Presence of Spring
Napoleon Bonaparte once said, “The moment you stop having
hope in life, death has arrived.”
So in every moment of hope, life is born with all its
happiness.
***
A painter gazed at his painting.
He thought about what he had worked for a long time, and said
to himself, “It doesn’t look too good after all. How can I give it some life?”
The winter cold had penetrated the painter’s clothes and
reached his bones. The sunless sky was very cold.
The painting on the ground was no different from its
surroundings.
A plant that had just grown out of the soil was in front of
the painting, revenging the large wintry painting. It was as if a small plant
had triumphed over all of winter.
The painter took his brush and drew a narrow line where the water
and earth met. The painting suddenly took life. The warmth of a spring day
penetrated the painter’s clothes and skin.
He calmly picked up the painting and started crossing the
road. He looked back. The little plant was standing up, fearless of the cold.
The little plant was a person - a person who stands up for his cause.
The painting on my wall was named, The Presence of Spring.
